After School Care

GRACE AFTER HOURS.........

Grace-St. Luke's After School Care provides a warm, loving, well supervised atmosphere for our students who need extended care. Caregivers are trained in developmentally appropriate practices, CPR, First Aid, and "Safe guarding God's Children" through the Episcopal Diocese.

The after school program for grades one through eight begins at 3:00 p.m. daily except on Wednesday when dismissal is at 2:15. Senior Kindergarten dismisses at 2:00 p.m. daily and 1:45 on Wednesday. Senior kindergarten students with older siblings at GSL are allowed to stay in ASC at no charge until 3:00 p.m. pick-up on all regular school days except Wednesday when they must be picked up at the 2:15 dismissal time. After School Care is available until 6:00 p.m. daily. A late charge of $2.00 per minute is charged for any student remaining after 6:00. If your child needs to be picked up by someone other than parents, guardian or persons on your child's "who can pick up list," a parent or guardian must call the school office or the ASC office and leave the name of the person picking up.

All students should leave campus by 3:15 p.m. unless they are enrolled in the After School Program or they are involved in an after school or enrichment activity which requires their attendance. Any student who remains after school to wait for a carpool must remain in the prescribed areas which are supervised by a faculty member. No student will be allowed to cross the street to meet a carpool unless accompanied by an adult. In order to protect our students, any child who is still on campus after 3:15 p.m. will be placed in the after school program and the parents will be charged for this supervised time. The school is not liable for any harmful action which occurs after school hours if a child is unsupervised. In the interest of preserving good neighborhood relations, students should not walk across the yards of people who live around the school.

Students staying for After School Care meet in their designated grade area. Study time is allowed daily for homework. We encourage artistic expression through music, dance, art, discovery, science and cooking during center time on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the school cafeteria for grades 1-8 and each day for senior kindergarten in the kindergarten classroom area. Physical activity in the gymnasium and on the playground is encouraged each day. Students also have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of enrichment offerings, such as; private piano, guitar, vocal lessons, gymnastics, karate, math clubs, chess, tap and ballet, acrobatics, yoga, Chinese and art. An afternoon snack is provided each day. It's the place to be "after hours. "

HOLIDAY CARE is made available on selected days for students needing care. A sign-up form is sent home before each offered holiday. Holiday Care hours are 7:30 - 5:30.
