Giving to GSL

The GSL Development Department, under the leadership of the school’s Board of Trustees, oversees all school-related fundraising programs that supplement tuition. These include regular Parents’ Association fundraisers in the fall (such as Wrapping Paper Sales) and spring (the Anchor Auction), as well as the school's Annual Giving Campaign. We recently concluded solicitations for our Anchoring the Future Capital Campaign, which was a tremendous success and will help ensure our school's sustainability for years to come.

Annual Giving Campaign

The Board of Trustees oversees an annual giving campaign to raise money for supplemental purchases and for financial needs not met by tuition income. All contributions are tax deductible, and many companies offer matching gift programs. Additionally, families can use their annual giving contribution to recognize a special person or event in the form of a memorial or honorarium. Donors to the campaign are recognized every year in the school’s published annual report.

The majority of GSL’s current families contribute to the annual fund drive, but our donors also include GSL Church parishioners, residents of Midtown and our Central Gardens neighborhood, alumni, and former faculty and staff. The annual campaign has 100% participation from current faculty and staff. Many of our annual giving donors are now second and third-generation supporters of the school. The dollars received through their kindness, faith and vision enable the school to provide financial aid for more families, continuing education for teachers (such as Schools Attuned), upgrades on technology, and ongoing improvements to facilities.

Anchoring the Future Capital Campaign

The Board of Trustees is delighted to report great success in our capital campaign, Anchoring the Future, which was launched to fund new campus construction and renovations designed to ensure the school's long-term sustainability. This campaign made it possible for GSL to expand and add two classrooms to Miss Lee’s (Summer 2009), and construct the Anchor Center at 250 Lemaster (completed April 2010), which features a gymnasium, library, full-service kitchen and dining hall, dedicated After School Care space, two art classrooms, a music classroom, two science labs, and a greenhouse.

While Grace-St. Luke’s is immensely proud of its past 60 years here at the corner of Peabody and Belvedere, the future remains our constant focus. The impetus behind the capital campaign was our desire to build new facilities worthy of our students and the comprehensive educational experience we provide. By the end of the campaign (Spring 2010), pledges and gifts totaled nearly $5.7 million – an incredible accomplishment for a PK-8 school, in a down economy!

Though the capital campaign is officially over, our work is not done! The GSL Development Department continues to research grants and other sources of additional funding to help off-set the costs of the school’s expansion and renovation effort. Donations are always welcome! To make a donation or to give online, please select one of these forms: annual giving or capital campaign
