Andy Surber joined the GSL community the summer of 2009 as Head of Lower School. He and his family moved to Memphis from Phoenix, Arizona, where he most recently served as Middle School Head at Phoenix Country Day School. He has also taught third grade at Phoenix Country Day School and at Dakota Elementary School in Dakota, IL. In addition to administrative and classroom duties, Andy has coached track and field, basketball, and football at the middle and high school levels. He has an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and a B.S. in Child Development from Rockford College. Andy is married to Mary Surber and has two sons, Keenan and Logan. On the weekends he can most often be found playing sports with his sons and cooking up dinner on his trusty Weber grill.
