4th Grade

Independence, responsibility, and leadership are an important focus in fourth grade as students spend their last year as the big fish in the Lower School pond before moving on to Middle School. By serving in Safety Patrol and partnering with first graders as chapel buddies, fourth grade students have the chance to serve their community while building confidence and demonstrating leadership. Students keep up-to-date in their daily planner, turn in assignments, and prepare for tests and long-term projects. Along with the increased responsibility comes increased fun, of course; fourth grade students experience their first overnight class trip to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. The annual Fourth Grade Citizenship Breakfast is a favorite tradition in which students invite special guests to breakfast at GSL as the culminating event in their study of the 21st century skills that will allow them to be relevant and productive citizens in their community.
