8th Grade

Ann Frank Permission Slip

Eighth graders are the leaders of GSL's student community. This culminating year at GSL is very special, as the graduating students continue to build upon the strong academic foundation that has been put in place for them. Many of GSL's 8th grade students have been here since pre-kindergarten, and the friendships they develop in their 11 years at GSL last a lifetime.

Eighth graders at GSL enjoy special privileges such as a separate snack line, the private 8th-grade staircase, outdoor lunches, and the Nantahala class trip, a favorite GSL tradition. Eighth graders host the annual Italian Dinner for the whole school, give individual chapel talks about their GSL experience in front of the student body, participate in 3-day business internships, and partner with senior kindergartners on special projects. Our eighth graders are highly sought-after by high schools throughout the city, and they attend a wide range of schools (see high school placement list below). Their educational journey at GSL culminates with Graduation, when Valedictorian and Salutatorian speeches (see videos below) are presented, along with special academic honors. GSL is a close-knit community, and it is always difficult to say goodbye to these special students at the end of the year!
