Joyce Bruno grew up in Memphis. She attended Millsaps College and graduated from the University of Memphis with a B.S. in Education. Prior to joining the staff at GSL, Joyce taught at Christ Methodist Day School for 14 years and in the public school system in Bedford, TX and in Karlsruhe, W. Germany. She has taught third grade at GSL for fifteen years. She is involved in church activities and serves on the Teacher Advisory Board at the Brooks Museum of Art and the board of First Baptist Day School. She has two grown sons, and she enjoys reading, knitting, traveling, and spending time with her grandson.  She especially enjoys helping children develop a love of math and confidence in their math skills through her enrichment math clubs and summer math camps.
