Senior Kindergarten

Listening to morning storiesSenior Kindergarten is the beginning of the Lower School journey at Grace-St. Luke’s. An assistant accompanies each classroom teacher so student-teacher ratios remain low, allowing for very individualized attention. Learning is accomplished through a hands-on, thematic, multi-sensory approach, and learning through play is a focus that continues from our Preschool program into kindergarten. Students are fully engaged in a variety of classroom activities and attend special classes weekly in computers, library, visual art, music, physical education, and Spanish. Pledging to the FlagStudents also rehearse and perform in their first class-wide production for parents, begin attending weekly chapel services during the second semester, and practice reading year-round with the help of third-grade reading buddies. A variety of class trips to places like the Memphis Zoo, Playhouse on the Square, and the Brooks Museum of Art round out the learning experience.
