Senior Kindergarten
Senior Kindergarten is the beginning of the Lower School journey at Grace-St. Luke’s. An assistant accompanies each classroom teacher so student-teacher ratios remain low, allowing for very individualized attention. Learning is accomplished through a hands-on, thematic, multi-sensory approach, and learning through play is a focus that continues from our Preschool program into kindergarten. Students are fully engaged in a variety of classroom activities and attend special classes weekly in computers, library, visual art, music, physical education, and Spanish.
Students also rehearse and perform in their first class-wide production for parents, begin attending weekly chapel services during the second semester, and practice reading year-round with the help of third-grade reading buddies. A variety of class trips to places like the Memphis Zoo, Playhouse on the Square, and the Brooks Museum of Art round out the learning experience.
