Thor Kvande joined GSL as Head of the Middle School in 2004. He previously served as Head of Middle School at St. John's Episcopal School in Maryland for five years. He began his teaching career at Woodland Country Day School in New Jersey. While there, he taught various sections of history to 5th, 6th, and 7th graders, in addition to teaching French and PE. He also taught for three years in Delaware while earning his MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. Over the course of his career, he has coached a variety of sports. He holds a B.A. from Muhlenberg College in History and Education, and enjoys running and camping. He and his wife Dawn have two children currently attending GSL. In 2010, following a national search, he was appointed Head of School beginning in July 2011.
