Lower School (SK-4th)
An Academic Foundation
Senior Kindergarten - Grade 4
Lower School continues GSL's tradition of nurturing and educating the whole child while broadening their academic and extracurricular experiences. We provide a foundation of high academic achievement with a curriculum designed to build a strong basis of concepts and skills. We include activities to help students develop higher-level thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Our small class sizes allow teachers to carefully monitor student progress and respond to individual needs – whether it be a readiness for extra challenges or the call for a little extra help. Throughout Lower School, teachers nurture independent thinking and encourage children to express their own ideas and draw conclusions from them. Guided by our Formative Five character development program that emphasizes the importance of empathy, self-control, integrity, embracing diversity, and grit, we teach and model an appreciation for differing points of view.
Lower School is packed with fun, engaging activities for students that spark their love of learning, provide increasing leadership opportunities, and prepare them for success in our Middle School program.
