Applying for Financial Aid
Grace-St. Luke’s is committed to offering need-based assistance to eligible applicants for grades SK-8. The school does not offer financial aid for its preschool programs. The availability of school resources, the number of qualified applicants, and overall budgetary constraints influence financial assistance decisions. Financial aid will only meet a portion of the family’s financial obligation to the school. While there is no obligation to repay the award, it is hoped that the recipient or his/her family will contribute to the school in the future. In an effort to make the process fair to all, Grace-St. Luke’s considers the following when making award decisions:
The primary responsibility for financing a student’s education rests with the family. Families must consider all their personal resources before applying to the school for funds.
Both parents are expected to contribute to tuition. GSL imputes an annual income for a non-working parent with the exception of a parent who stays home to care for a young child.
Grace-St. Luke’s believes a family should invest in their child’s education before elective expenses.
Due to the volume of applications and increased demand, it is possible the committee will not be able to consider requests submitted after December 15 until after contracts go out.
How to Apply for the Coming School Year
Grace-St. Luke’s uses the online service of Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) to process financial aid applications. FAST does not decide whether financial assistance will be given or how much to give; it simply provides a need-based financial aid analysis that includes a recommendation of what a family should reasonably contribute toward tuition. All information from FAST is kept confidential. The reports are reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee, which makes recommendations to the Head of School based on next year’s budget.
To be considered in the first round of awards, returning GSL families interested in applying for financial aid must submit a financial aid application no later than December 15 to have the award reflected in the January enrollment agreement.
Please complete the steps below no later than January 15 to be considered for an award upon admission. After March 1, please inquire about award availability before submitting an application.
Application steps are as follows:
- Complete the online application.
- The application process is self-guided. You may navigate in and out of the program allowing you to partially complete an application and go back at another time. You may use the previous years' tax information and estimate any changes for the current year. Online email and a 24/7 helpline are provided. Please do not call Grace-St. Luke’s with questions. FAST representatives are much better able to serve you.
- The charge for the application is $45 and can be paid by credit card at the end of the session.
- After completing the online application you will be required to mail your most current tax returns with all schedules and W-2’s directly to:
1316 North Union St.
Wilmington, DE 19806-2594
Please write "Grace-St. Luke's School" on the outside of your envelope for faster processing of your application.
Your tax return must follow the submission and be postmarked by April 15. Adjustments may be made to the award based on your actual tax return. If you have further questions, please email the Director of Enrollment (enroll [at] gslschool [dot] org).
Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal School’s financial aid is based on need, and students of any race, color, creed, ethnic origin, or sex may apply.
