Saints Serve
Service Learning at GSL allows students to gain a new perspective on the world around them. At each grade level, students are encouraged to use the “3 H’s” - head, heart, and hands - to think about real world problems, have empathy for others, move to action, and then reflect on their experiences. Service learning education is integrated in the existing curriculum and is intricately tied to our character education curriculum – The Formative Five. This encompasses grit, self-control, empathy, integrity, and embracing diversity.
We offer service learning opportunities addressing the following community issues:
Service learning opportunities related to each issue are reinforced through in-class activities, supplementary reading, and guest speakers culminating in grade-level, signature events.
